Things to do in Brittany

We always are available to give you ideas for things to do during your stay in the region. We have produced a folder of information for each gite listing places to go and what to see, whatever the weather. For each attraction we have given pricing information and opening times, which will hopefully guide you to the best attractions. In addition we provide many of the leaflets available from the tourist board next to our daily weather forecast. You can also look through the recommendations from the other guests, as well as adding your own. Below are some of the activities that may be available during your stay.

  • Beaches - too many to list - from secluded sandy bays where you may not see a soul, to cosmopolitan towns with restaurants, ice creams, sandwiches and activities along the prom, to sporting beaches with surfing, sailing, sand yachting and paragliding.
  • Activity Parks - There are parks for all the family featuring numerous attractions such as an excellent water park, Cobac Park, Tree Climbing Park, Indoor Karting and Outdoor Karting, trains, boats, mini golf and impressive gardens. Details of nearby parks are within the information pack.
  • Zoos - there are two zoos within 15 minutes drive. One example is La Bourbansais. Close to Mont St Michel is a large reptile park, Alligator Bay.
  • Chateaux and gardens.
  • Museums - Various museums around the area, including the excellent Motor Museum and the local Train Museum.
  • Walking - our book provides local information for walking in the area.
  • Aquarium - St Malo - a fantastic and educational day out.
  • Markets - there are many historic towns all of which have a market at least once a week - these traditional French markets sell local vegetables, fish, meat, cheeses, clothes and bric-a-brac, some even sell live animals.
  • Mont St Michel - Picturesque monastery set on a granite top. Very busy in the summer, but a classic tourist spot.
  • Restaurants - Numerous high quality restaurants in the surrounding area, with a large variety of specialist establishments within Dinan catering for most tastes, ranging from traditional French cuisine to Pizzeria's, Chinese and Indian restaurants.
  • Disneyland, Paris - if you fancy a visit you can drive to Disneyland in 3.5 hours, or take the TGV from Rennes in 2 hours.
  • Golf - Many high quality golf courses. We can arrange a tee off time and club hire if you desire.
  • Fishing - sea fishing and fresh water fishing
  • Various indoor activities such as Ten Pin Bowling in Dinan.
  • Cycling - Circular rides are available from the local village, with longer excursions along the canal between Evran and Dinan for the more energetic.
  • Windsurfing and Sailing- Board and boat hire available at St Cast beach.
  • Sand-yachting
  • Horse riding - Lessons and excursions can be made with a local stables from the beginner to the more experienced rider.
  • Play area - For those who wish to take time-off from visiting the sights, we have our own fenced play area at La Lohuas.
